All right, readers: how does one best find an apartment in the DC area ( and by DC area, I mean DC and Alexandria/Arlington)? My lease is up soon-ish and I have to find a studio and/or find a roommate. Nothing too expensive, as I want to save money in case I need to flee DC for greener pastures. I've tried Craigslist but instead of getting normal posts, I keep getting ad after ad for the same few apartment complexes. No, I do not need a Zen rock garden on the roof, so stop telling me you have one, apartment hawker!

Damn you, Obama, and your inspirational message that draws young professionals to DC and also raises house prices! Damn you to hell!

I honestly don't know. I've found all of my places through friends or coworkers. Jason found the first townhouse in Alexandria through realtor.com I found one roommate through LJ's NoVa comm. Sorry I can't be more help.
